The door swung open. David walked in first with a fake worried expression, followed by Mrs. Elena who was even trying to force out some crocodile tears.
“Baby, we were so worried about you!” David said, reaching for my hand. “Mom feels really bad about the accident. Please come home with us so we can take care of you.”

Mrs. Elena added dramatically, “It was just a moment of anger, dear. You know my health isn’t good. You shouldn’t have provoked me like that.”
Before I could say a word, Dr. Nguyen stepped forward with two police officers and a social worker who had been waiting in the next room. The trap closed perfectly.
David’s face turned deathly pale as the officers presented the mountain of evidence — my medical history, photos of the injuries, neighbor statements, and the clear security footage showing his mother smashing my leg with the rolling pin. Mrs. Elena tried to scream and deny everything, calling it a “family matter,” but the evidence was overwhelming.
“You can’t do this to us!” David shouted, his voice cracking with panic. “She’s my wife! This is private!”
The lead officer looked at him with disgust. “You left your seriously injured wife bleeding on the kitchen floor for hours while you ate dinner and watched football. That’s not just domestic violence — that’s attempted murder.”
As the handcuffs clicked around their wrists, Mrs. Elena glared at me with pure venom in her eyes. David looked completely broken and whispered desperately, “Sarah… please… don’t do this to us. I love you.”

A cold chill ran down my spine as I stared at the man I once loved. But this time, the chill brought me strength instead of fear.
“I already did,” I replied quietly, my voice steady for the first time in years. “You taught me exactly what happens when I stay silent.”
As they were led away, the physical pain in my leg remained, but the heavy weight on my heart finally lifted. The long nightmare was over, and real justice had just begun.
