PART 3 | The Female Millionaire CEO Was Always Sick—Until a Cleaning Single Dad Discovered the Truth

The tension in the executive suite was suffocating. I grabbed Victoria’s arm, pulling her toward the private elevator while my mind raced for an escape. “We need to get out now. Call the police.”

She nodded, her face regaining some color after weeks without the poison, but still vulnerable. “Security won’t help. Richard controls too many of them.”

We barely made it to the parking garage when headlights blinded us. Two black SUVs blocked our path. Richard stepped out with three hired men, his expression pure rage.

“Going somewhere, Victoria?” he called out. “And with your new janitor boyfriend? How touching.”

My heart raced as I pushed Victoria behind me. “This ends tonight, Lang. The evidence is already with a lawyer and the board.”

He laughed, but it was hollow. “You think a single dad and some copied files can take me down? I built this empire while she played sick princess. The toxins were a mercy — keeping her weak so I could run things properly.”

Victoria stepped forward, voice strong for the first time in months. “You poisoned me. You killed my husband. All for control and money.”

Richard’s face twisted. “And I’d do it again. Hand over the notebook and the copies, or these gentlemen will make sure neither of you leaves this garage alive. Accidents happen all the time to night-shift workers and stressed CEOs.”

A chill ran down my spine. Panic surged through every nerve. Lily’s face flashed before my eyes — I couldn’t leave her orphaned. But I also couldn’t abandon Victoria now.

One of the men pulled a gun. “Boss says make it quick.”

Just as he raised the weapon, police sirens echoed through the garage. Red and blue lights flooded the space. I had managed to hit an emergency alert on my phone earlier, sending the evidence and our location to a trusted detective I’d met during a previous job.

Richard’s eyes widened in fury. “You fools! Do you know how many powerful people are invested in this company? This isn’t over!”

Chaos erupted as real security — finally responding to the external call — swarmed in alongside the police. Richard and his men were tackled and cuffed. Victoria collapsed against me in relief, her body shaking.

“You saved me, Alex,” she whispered, tears streaming down her face. “A cleaning single dad discovered what dozens of doctors couldn’t.”

In the following days, the truth exploded across the news. Richard was arrested for poisoning, embezzlement, and suspected murder. Victoria recovered rapidly and publicly credited me as her hero. Offers poured in — better jobs, rewards, even a position at the company.

But as we sat in her office one evening, celebrating with Lily playing nearby, Victoria’s private phone rang. She answered, her face draining of color.

“It’s one of the major investors,” she said quietly after hanging up. “He says Richard was just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a larger consortium that wanted me weak… and they’re not happy you exposed them.”

My stomach dropped completely. Outside the window, a dark sedan idled across the street, its occupants watching the building intently.

Victoria gripped my hand tightly. “They’re coming for us, Alex. The truth you discovered might destroy more than just Richard. It might destroy everything.”

Lily looked up at me innocently. “Daddy, is everything okay?”

I forced a smile, but my blood ran cold as another call came in — this time from an unknown number with a distorted voice: “You should have stayed in your lane, janitor. Powerful people don’t forget who ruined their plans.”

The fight for justice had only just begun, and the people behind Victoria’s illness were far more dangerous than we imagined.
